15 Series Opaque Glass Colors for Decal Application
The 15 Series offers lead-containing opaque glass colors used in ceramic decal application for the decoration of drinking glasses and container glasses.
Ferro’s 15 Series offers 28 opaque and resistant lead-containing colors formulated for use in container glass decoration via ceramic decals.
The colors of the 15 Series have excellent processing properties in all conventional decorating methods for decal application such as direct and indirect screen printing, spraying and brush application.
Our colors form a permanent coating that provides scratch resistance with high gloss and color. They also provide relatively high resistance to acids and alkalis, which is especially critical for drinking glass decoration.
For all standard application methods, Ferro offers a full range of suitable media and covercoats.
15 SERIES GLASS DECORATION COLORS CORE PROPERTIES
Thermal Expansion Coefficient:
88 x 10-7/K - 92 x 10-7/K.
Firing temperature Range:
580°C and 630°C.
HEAVY METAL RELEASE AND HEAVY METAL CONTENT
All colors in the 15 Series contain lead and lithium oxide, some colors also contain cadmium.
Due to the lead release, the lip rim of drinking glasses should stay undecorated. In some cases, 15 Series colors can also be used for decorating earthenware if a lower firing temperature is preferred.

Color Mixing
We offer custom color mixing services, which gives our customers total flexibility in tailoring color matches on-site, as well as desired gloss and finish. We also provide testing to ensure the firing stability of mixed shades, mixing guidelines and recommendations for Pantone® color matching.
Color Matching
Ferro provides complete custom color matching services to help our customers develop new colors and finishes to meet specific industry standards and/or unique customer needs. In addition to matching colors, Ferro can provide formulas to customers using the base/tint system.
Precise color matching can be achieved using our internal extensive database and color matching expertise. All colors are matched to defined reference samples to ensure exact match and consistent color reproduction from batch to batch.
