Cobalt Aluminate Inoculants for Investment Casting
Ferro offers cobalt-aluminate inoculant nucleation agents proven to be effective in the investment casting process of super alloys.
Ferro‘s cobalt aluminate inoculants meet the high performance and tight tolerance demands required during the investment casting (lost wax) process in producing turbine blades and nozzle guide vanes for aerospace original equipment manufacturers (OEM).
These inoculants have a consistent and optimized distribution of fine-sized grain microstructures that result in improved fatigue strength, making them ideal for delivering specific grain sizes for many industrial applications.
Our standard cobalt aluminate inonculants contain a cobalt content as low as 33% and they are more cost effective in comparison to the 40% phase purity cobalt found in a typical cobalt oxide or cobalt silicate. Ferro inoculants also offer good slurry disperseability due to the additional low impurity content of silver (Ag), bismuth, (Bi) and lead (Pb).
We also offer completed customized inoculant formulations with varying cobalt content as required based on specific applications.
FERRO COBALT (II) ALUMINATE ADVANTAGES
- Consistent, optimally fine-grained, small particle size distribution
- Higher homegeniety and smaller grain size than Cobalt (II, III) Oxide
- Good slurry dispersibility
- Very low impurity content (Ag, Bi, Pb)
- Excellent cost-effectiveness due to lower content (33% cobalt content vs. 40% or more in cobalt oxide or cobalt silicate)
- Phase purity
