Digital printing enables multi-color printing of any design, in efficient industrial production runs

Just about every home has a range of appliances such as cooking ovens, ranges and stove tops, with glass fronts or surfaces. Transparent, light transmitting, durable, attractive, easy to clean, and perfectly suited for increasingly popular touch panels, glass is an attractive choice for modern home appliances.

REDEFINING HOME APPLIANCE GLASS WITH DIGITAL PRINT

The printing method used on appliances glass until now has been screen printing; and certainly, there remains a strong need for it. However, it can be a laborious process for more than one color, requiring much human-power, time, and space, with the need to set up each screen, print, and dry repeatedly for each color.

The same goes for short runs: it’s arduous and costly to print more than one color and it can become logistically impractical to print more than two or three colors. That’s where digital print comes in.

VEra digital glass printer transforms the possibilities for appliances glass by enabling multi-color printing of any design, in efficient industrial production runs.

Appliance glass goes digital with the VEra printer and Ferro Ultra-FIX digital inks
The revolutionary VEra digital glass printer transforms the possibilities for appliances glass by enabling multi-color printing of any design, in efficient industrial production runs.

A dedicated inline and automated printer, developed together with Ferro’s Dip-Tech business, the pioneer and leading provider of digital ceramic glass printing solutions, VEra can print up to six colors at once, at industry quality within a cycle of a few seconds.

After printing, the glass goes through an IR dryer and then to tempering, just as with a screen printing process. With the Dip-Tech VEra digital glass printer, everything is done by one machine – printing of multiple colors, color fixing, and drying – making the whole process faster, easier and more cost-efficient.

The groundbreaking VEra printer is perfectly complimented by Ferro’s high-performance Ultra-FIX digital inks for appliance glass. These inks are uniquely able to surmount the challenges of printing thick layers of ink on glass, as well as fine text and marks. This is done with Ultra-FIX digital technology based on a Dip-Tech patent that ensures the liquid ink layers are already stable from jetting time, much like a lead-free glass enamel. This prevents migrating of colors and bleeding, keeping the border lines and edges where they have been jetted, sharp and crisp. It also means several colors can now be printed in high opacity, on appliances of all sizes, at industry quality with no gaps between their graphics.
