Starlight100 Lead-Free Inglaze Metallic Colors
Ferro’s Starlight100 color series offers unique lead-free metallic colors for high temperature, fast firing porcelain decoration.
The Starlight100 lead-free color series offers four metallic shades based on metallic pigments that are designed to create an appearance close to four key precious metals such as a burnished or matt gold, silver, platinum, or white gold. The more matt metallic colors produce an impressive contrast to the high gloss bright platinum or bright gold.
THE STARLIGHT100 HIGH-TEMPERATURE FAST FIRE ADVANTAGE
Starlight100 metallic colors are a less costly alternative due to the elimination of precious metals. Now burnished gold decoration effects can be achieved without costly labor-intensive post-fire polishing that is necessary to create burnished golds using pure precious metals.
These unique metallic colors can be processed with high temperature fast firing cycles at 1140°C – 1180°C, which eliminates the limitation to just onglaze decoration at firing temperatures of a maximum of 900°C.
The alkali and acid resistance of fired color layers is influenced by the thickness of the color layer, flux used, firing conditions and the glaze.
LEAD-FREE COLORS FOR BETTER DESIGNS
Starlight100 series inglaze metallic colors are lead-free and cadmium-free with controls in place to maintain upper limits of 100 ppm lead and 600 ppm cadmium. Ferro maintains and manages the heavy metal limit through careful monitoring of raw materials combined with accurate processing and continuous precise quality control.
Colors in the Starlight100 series have excellent processing properties in all conventional decorating methods, including direct and indirect screen printing, spraying, machine lining and banding, and brush application.
Ferro also offers a full range of suitable media and covercoats designed for use with all standard decorating methods.

Color Mixing
We offer custom color mixing services, which gives our customers total flexibility in tailoring color matches on-site, as well as desired gloss and finish. We also provide testing to ensure the firing stability of mixed shades, mixing guidelines and recommendations for Pantone® color matching.
Color Matching
Ferro provides complete custom color matching services to help our customers develop new colors and finishes to meet specific industry standards and/or unique customer needs. In addition to matching colors, Ferro can provide formulas to customers using the base/tint system.
Precise color matching can be achieved using our internal extensive database and color matching expertise. All colors are matched to defined reference samples to ensure exact match and consistent color reproduction from batch to batch.
